What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) is a holistic healthcare profession dedicated to enhancing an individual's ability to engage in meaningful activities and daily tasks, known as occupations, across their lifespan.

Through a client-centred approach, OT practitioners utilise models such as the Person-Environment-Occupation (PEO) model and the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) to assess and intervene in areas where individuals may face challenges due to physical, cognitive, emotional, or environmental factors.

By understanding the dynamic interaction between the person, their environment, and their occupations, OTs aim to promote independence, improve quality of life, and facilitate participation in desired activities, whether self-care, productivity, or leisure pursuits. OT interventions may include therapeutic activities, environmental modifications, adaptive equipment, and skill development to optimise clients' occupational performance and overall well-being.

Who can benefit from occupational therapy?

Occupational Therapy can benefit individuals of all ages with physical, cognitive, sensory, or emotional challenges affecting their ability to participate in daily activities. We work with clients to develop personalised strategies and interventions to enhance their independence and overall functioning.

What services do you offer?

We offer various services, including OT assessments, individual therapy sessions, group programs, Allied Health assistance and mentoring services. Our team is experienced in working with neurodivergent individuals, including intellectual disability, psychosocial disabilities, brain injuries, and other neurological conditions.

Where do therapy sessions occur?

We deliver therapy services at your home, your child's school or child care, or in the community.

What can happen in initial consultations?

Initial consultations can happen via phone or home visits with you or the parent/guardian of the child. This can involve our therapists asking information about how you or your child engage in day-to-day activities, strengths, interests, challenges, and goals.

How can I get started?
